CHARLES TOWN CHARTER & LAND USE:

Annexation Review
2,424.99 acres
September 10, 2007

Charles Town Corporation
2007 District 3 Index Map

Annexations 2007 - Public Information
This map was digitally scanned, colorized, identified with location and acreage from an original 36"x48" B&W hard copy purchased at the County Mapping Office. The final was printed full size, mounted and laminated for the WV legislative meeting Monday 9.10.2007 at the Holiday Inn in Martinsburg.

Tax maps are updated each July of the fiscal year - the acreage accumulation was gathered by adding individual tax records - errors were found - the comparison of one data base to another are irregular - this map is considered a close resemblance but only a reference of annexation up to and including July 2007.

digital maps are NOT permitted to be purchased from the mapping office

Wastewater Treatment Plant Service Area Legend 6/19/2006
    LEGEND
1 The wastewater treatment service area is an existing planning tool used by the Charles Town Utility Board that is used to help determine short term to mid term sewer service needs. All public service districts have them and they often overlap. It does not have any reasonable relationship to where a reclamation facility or service building may or may not be located now or in the future. Jeremy Camp June 22, 2006

Question : Do Ms. Gutsell's remarks adequately address the fact that Section 8A-3-14, states: "The jurisdiction of the municipal planning commission shall not extend beyond its corporate limits."

  • " ... As recently as 2005 in the case of " Brown versus Bolivar" which, of course, arose right here in Jefferson County, our Supreme Court said: "No." Chapter 8A did not act to abolish this law. It still has full force and effect. So, this is something that interacts with the powers of planning and zoning. ..." - Linda Gutsell, Attorney - Charles Town
